Removing nvidia drivers<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>1.a)If you installed the drivers using ubuntu official repository:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>apt-get &#8211;purge remove nvidia-glx-* nvidia-settings<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.b)If you used nvidia installer from nvidia website(replace VERSION with nvidia driver version!):<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong><em>sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-VERSION-pkg1.run &#8211;uninstall<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2.Switch to virtual console by pressing by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1<\/p>\n<p>3. Login as root and stop gnome display manager<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>service gdm stop<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-nouveau<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><\/strong><\/em>4.Generate xorg.conf file<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Xorg -configure<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>5.Copy the generated file to \/etc\/X11\/<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>cp xorg.conf \/etc\/X11\/<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><\/strong><\/em>6.Edit xorg.conf<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>vi \/etc\/X11\/xorg.conf<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>7.Search for Driver &#8220;nvidia&#8221; line in Device section and if you find it replace it with Driver &#8220;<strong><em>nouveau<\/em><\/strong>&#8221; them save and exit.<\/p>\n<p>8.Restart computer.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>reboot<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nouveau \u2013 Open source drivers for nvidia graphic cards 1.
